Inheritable Health related poodle problems

The poodle is very intelligent, good natured, sturdy dog with long life span. The poodles come in 3 different sizes. They are toy, miniature and standard. Like all purebred dogs, they also have inheritable health related poodle problems. Toy and miniature poodles share same health disorders while there is some variation in standard poodle problems

First let us see the toy and miniature inheritable health related poodle problems. The corneal dystrophy is a disease of cornea that is bilateral, inflammatory and is inherited. Next is progressive retinal atrophy, this is an eye disorder in which the light cells of retina die or wither due to insufficient blood supply. This disease gradually results in blindness which has no cure. This poodle problem is seen in the age between 5-6 years. Next is Cushing disease which occurs from the overproduction of cortisone by the adrenal glands. Next is hypothyroidism which results from inadequate production of thyroid hormone. Its symptoms include brittle coat that falls out, coarse, thickening of skin and so.

Now let us see the standard inheritable health related poodle problems. The entropian is an eye condition in which the eyelid grows inward, causing eyelashes to come into contact with eye itself. Similarly they suffer from liver shunts, sebaceous adenitis, hereditary eye disease, elbow dysplasia and so.
